Assessments
Regardless
of whether your operation is a CAFO or not, a confidential
on-site environmental assessment will identify any deficiencies that may
exist, and provide options for how to correct them. If you
are buying property, knowing the environmental history of
a site is crucial to avoid purchasing a potentially huge liability,
such as leaking underground storage tanks or hazardous chemical
dumps. Different assessments are offered for different customer
needs:
- CAFO
/ AFO Environmental Site Risk Assessments
- Phase
1 Site Assessments
- Real
Estate Transaction Screens (environmental, floodplain, endangered
species)

Permitting Assistance
To
apply for a Colorado general discharge permit, a substantial
amount of information is needed. Gathering this information
typically requires performing a detailed site drainage survey,
lagoon depth and impoundment storage capacity determinations, lagoon liner
testing, nutrient managemet planning, and other site-specific data.
BRINK, Inc. provides turnkey permit application assistance.
Nutrient Management Planning
All manure and wastewater contains nutrients. Nutrients such as nitrogen, phosphorus, and soluble salts need to be properly managed to avoid overapplication on land application fields. Over application can lead to reduced crop yields in the field, and increased risk of environmental problems, including nitrate leaching and off-site phosphorus transport. Good nutrient planning will insure that nutrients are managed to maximize profit and minimize environmental risk. BRINK, Inc. provides complete nutrient management planning, whether its a Comprehensive Nutrient Management Plan (CNMP) tailored to meet NRCS requirements, or a more basic nutrient management plan that satisfies the requirements of a state CAFO discharge permit.
Sampling
& Testing
The
new state CAFO permit provisions require that manure, wastewater
and land application areas be regularly tested. BRINK, Inc.
offers a comprehensive sampling and inspection service that
satisfies permit requirements, including:
- Wastewater,
manure and soil sampling
- Sample
analysis by a certified laboratory
- Record-keeping
- Nutrient
Balancing, including Comprehensive Nutrient Management Plans (CNMP)
